The Editor News, Hoshiarpur -A delegation of Indian Medical association, Hoshiarpur led by its President Dr. Rajesh Mehta met Hon’ble Health Minister Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh and presented him a memorandum highlighting problems being faced by the medical fraternity. Regarding violence against doctors, the minister instructed the SSP to ensure that immediate police protection be given to the affected hospital in case of any problem and in no case doctor be arrested without the recommendation of the medical board constituted by the Civil Surgeon as per instructions by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. He asked the SSP to sensitise all SHO’s regarding the Protection of Medicare Establishment Act and any perpetrators of violence be booked under this Act as has been done in a case at Nangal. Regarding trade licence to be imposed on doctors by the Municipal corporation, IMA told him that they are doing professional services and should be exempted. He assured that it will not be implemented. The Hon’ble Minister assured the delegation that he will take up the matter with Punjab Pollution Control Board regarding STP to be installed. The delegation consisted of President Dr. Rajesh Mehta, hony. Secretary Dr. Balwinderjit Singh Saini , Past Presidents of IMA Hoshiarpur Dr. Harish Bassi and Dr. Ashok Gupta, Dr. Ashwani K Juneja, Dr. Sandeep Salaria, Dr. Akshay Juneja, Dr. Pawan Kalia and Dr. Manmeet Singh.
