Chandigarh January 06, 2024. Former MP of Chandigarh and Chairman of the Social Welfare Committee of Chandigarh, Mr. Satya Pal Jain has said that the people of transgender (eunuch) category in the society should also get the same respectful treatment as other sections get it.
Sh. Jain was addressing the members present today while presiding over the meeting organized by the Social Welfare Committee of Chandigarh Administration with the members of the transgender community.
About 60-70 representatives including members of the Social Welfare Committee and representatives of the transgender community participated in this meeting.
In the meeting, the problems faced by the transgender community in Chandigarh were discussed in depth. Members suggested that all the members of this category should be issued identity cards by the administration, they should be given reservation in educational institutions and jobs, they should be given pension on the lines of Haryana Government in Chandigarh, they should be given free medical and they should also be given financial assistance in running their personal business.

The members also suggested that an awareness campaign should be run in the society so that people can become aware that people of this class are also an important part of the society and they are also entitled to equal human treatment. Parents of such category of people, school and college students and teachers should also be included in this campaign.
Sh. Jain assured all the members that he and the Social Welfare Committee will raise their demands with the officials of Chandigarh Administration and will make all possible attempts for their solution at the earliest. Sh. Jain said that the committee will prepare a detailed report in this regard and will submit it to the Chandigarh Administration so that the issues of these people can be properly resolved.
Among others, Kanwaljit Panchhi, Anamika Walia, Shipra Bansal, Rama Matharu, Karan Vasudev, Sheenu Aggarwal, Tulika Mehta, Renu Rishi Gautam, Lata Giri, Mamta Dogra, Bhavna Choudhary, Rajendra Sharma and Sarvashree Dhananjay, Aman Chauhan, Muskaan, Yashvinder, Ishika, Soni, Nishu, Sam were also present in the meeting.
