The Editor News —— Khanak Welfare Foundation organised a session on “Teacher’s Role in Gender Education” for the faculty of the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Raipur Khurd in continuation of their last session for the students on ‘Gender Diversity and Gender Discrimination’ held on 09.11.2023 for the students of the institution.
The sessions effort was to bring clarity and awareness to the concept of Gender Diversity and to have an open dialogue about Gender discrimination.
Moreover, to promote gender equality and to sensitise teachers on gender privilege in order for them to address gender bias and gender stereotypes among students.

Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, Founder, Khanak Welfare Foundation, alongwith Mr. Yogesh and Ms. Medha Kaushal initiated the session by highlighting that teachers need to continually evaluate their own gender stereotypes and establish a positive teacher-student relationship where students feel heard, understood, supported and encouraged.
Mx. Dhananjay Chauhan exchanged her views on the consequences and difficulties faced by each gender due to gender discrimination and the need for gender equity and suggested coping methods in which a child feels safe and secure.
In addition to that, Ms. Jaspreet Kaur closed the session by summarising the gender responsive pedagogy and challenges teachers face while developing lesson plans and curriculum which is inclusive of current gendered norms and behaviour.
To collect supplemental information about their experiences, the teachers were also asked to fill a questionnaire on the perceptions and challenges faced by them while institutionalizing such academic resources and settings.
The foundation apprevia the support of the staff of GMSSS-Raipur Khurd, especially the school Principal Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Singla, Ms. Jaspal Kaur and Ms. Aruna, school counselor for making this session a success.
